There’s a view above the clouds
That we can never see
When we’re living in the valley
‘Neath its gloomy wreath
There’s a view above the mountains
That we can never know
That we can never truly grasp
When we choose to dwell below
But when we climb and when we fly
To the heights so high above
We can see what only God should see
It’s a picture of His Love
Amazing Love He has for us
When lifted high enough
To get beyond the gloomy clouds
To conquer the mountain rough
There’s a view above our circumstance
That we can never see
Till we can somehow make it through
The clouds to serenity
There’s a view above God has for us
And He will take us there
With the wings of His abounding peace
This my daily prayer

Poet's Note:
I wrote this in December of 2009. A lot had happened in the year preceding the inspiration of this poem for me to know the valley, but also to appreciate the view above. The photo for this post was taken by me literally "above the clouds" from the window of an airplane.
