Okay... I'm not impressed with the literary world right now.  I happened to do a Google search on "Ruby Voigt"  this morning and discovered that you can buy a used copy of my book "Still Broken"  for $73.06.  It was the first web page that showed up on my search.

 WHAT A SCAM!!!

13 years ago I published this book... and my mother was the only one who purchased a load of books from the publisher.. I know because of the one royalty check I still have in my archives.  It is a sad story in the life of a one time self-published author, but I am hoping that I am the only one who gets scammed in the process.  That venture cost me $5000 in publishing costs and my mother another five Gs in books.  All that for a book that a decade later isn't much of an accurate reflection of it's author.

Whoever Thrift Books is, they don't have access to my book legally, because I pulled it from print shortly after it was published.  My Mom's collection in her garage is the only bulk purchase from Trafford Publishing.  They don't have access to new books.

As for the used books.  I don't remember selling or giving away too many books to anyone south of the border that I can remember.  But what ever the possibility, I would rather have my book laying on a garage sale table selling for a dollar than for some big corporation to to making a dime off of a book they have no access from the publisher or the author.  I did send a email through to Thrift books to have my book pulled from their on line sale library.

This was my reply to Thrift Books.

Please remove this book from your library.  You don't have access to it.  The publisher has been told by me,  the author, to not make this book accessible to the public anymore and that directive was in place over 12 years ago.   This is a scam in action.  I went on Amazon and saw a used book for sale for 73.06.  This too is a scam and I don't want my name associated with this scam.  This book is no longer for sale by anyone other than me, the author.

Ruby (Voigt) Neumann

That being said... This wasn't the first time some website wanted to value my book higher than what I was selling it for.  The first time it was about 500 dollars.  That was funny and it happened right after it was published.  I felt somewhat wowed, but then realized it was just a scam and the people trying to use my book as a money maker probably never cracked the cover.

I still have a "few" books available, but I'm not that excited to sell any of them or even give them away without first a big disclaimer that it is not my story anymore.  It was my story at one time, and is still a part of the big story of my life that was Ruby Voigt.  But now, it is not my story, and I don't want to give the impression or deceive anyone by telling them that it is.

I realize that I have no power to stop the multi million dollar corporations from reaping profits off of little unknown authors like myself.  I just don't want to stand by and be a party to it.

SO AMAZON... STOP IT!!!
